NAMIBIA has recorded 152 new Covid-19 cases, health minister Kalumbi Shangula said on Monday.
Windhoek reported the highest number with 73, Walvis Bay followed with 64, Swakopmund 9, Okahandja 2, Otjiwarongo 2, Nankudu 1, Outapi 1, Mariental 1.
Shangula said 28 of the Windhoek cases are from one suburb. He said the Windhoek cases are linked and increasing as 10 cases are from one household and four cases are health care workers.
“We are strengthening control measures in Windhoek as well as in all areas, to curb the further spread. These include increasing testing, increasing isolation and quarantine facilities, among others,” the health minister said.
He said the country had recorded eleven recoveries.
The country now has 3 101 confirmed cases, with 715 recoveries and 2 367 active cases. The death toll is at 19.
“Of the active cases, we have five who are severely sick, one is from Khomas and four are from Erongo region. Six patients are in critical condition. Four of these are in Khomas while two are in Erongo region,” the minister added.
