Health update: Namibia has recorded 78 new coronavirus infections and 72 recoveries.

This was announced this afternoon by executive director of health and social services Ben Nangombe.

Of the new cases, 57 are men and 21 women.

The youngest is two years old and the oldest 85.

Mariental recorded the highest number of new cases with 25, Windhoek 17, Oshakati 15, Okahandja, Omuthiya and Swakopmund four each, Engela three, Okakarara two, and Rehoboth, Grootfontein, Otjiwarongo and Onandjokwe one each.

Of the 26 cases reported in the Hardap region, 25 are inmates at the Hardap Correctional Facility.

Among the 15 cases from the Oshana region, 13 are inmates from the Oluno Correctional Facility.

Among the five cases reported in the Oshikoto region, four are from the Omuthiya Police Station’s holding cells.

The Khomas region recorded 23 recoveries and Ohangwena four.

The total number of active cases now stands at 1 671.

Of these, two are in a severe condition.

Namibia now has 12 579 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 10 775 recoveries and 133 deaths.
