Some of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security’s offices in the Erongo region have been closed, following possible Covid-19 exposure.

According to the ministry’s
spokesperson Sakeus Kadhikwa, the closure is a precautionary measure,
after staff members came into contact with suspected Covid-19 cases at
Walvis Bay.
As result, the ministry temporarily closed its Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay harbour and airport, and Swakopmund offices.
“This
is to allow for the office premises to be disinfected. All staff
members have been placed in self-quarantine,” Kadhikwa said.
He
noted that the closure is currently indefinite as the primary contacts
are still being identified, and once all the test results are known the
reopening would be announced.
“All hospital-based offices are
closed and no immigration-related services would be offered during this
period,” Kadhikwa said. – [email protected]
