NAMIBIA recorded 62 new coronavirus cases, 29 recoveries and one death. This was announced this afternoon by health executive director Ben Nangombe.
Of these cases, 33 are males and 29 are females, the youngest is seven months old and the oldest is 77 years.
Windhoek recorded 33 cases, Onandjokwe 14, Outjo five, Otjiwarongo and Rehoboth three each, Okahandja two, and Karasburg and Katima Mulilo one each.
Nangombe said among the cases reported from Outjo, one is a tourist who arrived in the country on 2 October with a valid negative Covid-19 result which was done on 30 September.
“He proceeded to his destination and was swabbed on day 5. The result came out positive. He is currently being managed according to our protocol,” he said.
Meanwhile Khomas has recorded 24 recoveries, Hardap and //Karas two each, and Zambezi one.
The total number of active cases now stands at 1 956, five are in critical conditions, two from Erongo and three from Khomas region.
The country recorded one death of a 76-year-old female from Windhoek known to have had multiple comorbidities. She presented to a health care facility on 15 June and was admitted for a surgical operation.
“She was swabbed and her results came out positive for Covid-19. The patient’s condition deteriorated and she passed away on 5 October,” he said.
Namibia now has 11 891 confirmed cases, 9 807 recoveries and 128 deaths.
