HEALTH UPDATE … Health minister Kalumbi Shangula says Namibia on Monday recorded 68 new coronavirus infections and 26 recoveries of people who had been diagnosed with the virus. The new infections are from the Erongo, Khomas and //Kharas regions.
The minister says Walvis Bay has 60 new cases, Windhoek six and Swakopmund and Keetmanshoop one each. According to Shangula, the ages of the 68 people who have now tested positive for the virus range from six to 68 years old.
All of the Windhoek cases have no travel history and have not been in a quarantine facility, but some of them had contact with confirmed cases. Of the 26 recoveries, Shangula said 24 are from Walvis Bay, one from Swakopmund and one from Engela.
The country’s total confirmed novel coronavirus infections number 1 843, with 101 recoveries and 1 734 active cases. The death toll still stands at eight.
