Health update: Namibia has recorded 99 new coronavirus infections, 150 new recoveries and another two deaths linked to Covid-19.
Health minister Kalumbi Shangula on Monday said the two most recent deaths linked to an infection with the novel coronavirus were of men aged 57 and 64, respectively, who died in Windhoek. Shangula noted that Namibia’s case fatality ratio stands at 1,0%.
Windhoek recorded 60 new confirmed cases, Oshakati six, Rehoboth five, Walvis Bay and Onandjokwe four each, Engela and Keetmanshoop three each, Eenhana, Outapi and Okakarara two each, and Omuthiya, Rundu, Otjiwarongo, Okahandja, Usakos, Gobabis, Karasburg and Lüderitz one each.
Forty-nine of the newly infected people are male and 50 are female. The youngest is seven months old and the oldest is 83 years of age.
New recoveries were recorded from Erongo (130), //Karas (12) and Hardap (six), and Omaheke and Oshana reported one recovery each.
Namibia has now recorded 9 818 confirmed coronavirus infections, 103 deaths linked to Covid-19 and 6 693 recoveries from the virus.
The country’s number of active infections now stands at 3 023. Of the active cases, 19 are in a severe to critically sick condition.
