Namibia reports 70 new Covid-19 cases at Walvis Bay 30, Swakopmund 10, Windhoek 26, Otjiwarongo one, Okahandja one, and Keetmanshoop one.
According to the health and social services minister Kalumbi Shangula, 13 of the cases in Windhoek have no known cases to confirmed cases, but they presented with symptoms consistent with Covid-19.
Katutura reported ten cases, which is of grave concern according to the minister. He said the patients all attended a church ceremony.
“It is likely that more people have been exposed and we are cautioning the people to call the hotline to be tested,” Shangula said.
Weddings, funerals and church services are the main drivers of the community spread and individuals are cautioned not to attend those events, the minister noted. Namibia also reports a record number of recoveries of 349 cases and they have been discharged with Walvis Bay having the largest number of recoveries.
Confirmed cases total: 2540, with 556 recoveries. The death toll remains at 12.
