NAMIBIA has recorded 54 new coronavirus cases and 22 recoveries, deputy health minister Ester Muinjangue this afternoon said.
Of these cases, 31 are males and 23 females, the youngest is one year old and the oldest 75 years.
Oshakati recorded 18 new cases, Windhoek 16, Rehoboth five, Walvis Bay and Otjiwarongo three each, Swakopmund, and Gobabis two each and Mariental, Okahandja, Oshikuku, Outapi and Tsumeb one each.
Muinjangue said Oshakati cases include, 12 pupils from Oshakati Senior Secondary School and five inmates at Oluno correctional facility. The two institutions have been the hotbed of Covid-19 transmission in Oshana, contributing significantly to the national tally of positive cases.
She added that 18 pupils from different schools across the country are among the total cases.
Meanwhile the country recorded 22 new recoveries from Khomas region. This brings the total recoveries to 10 609.
The total number of active cases now stands at 1 718, three are in severe to critical conditions.
Namibia now has 12 460 confirmed cases and 133 deaths.
