HEALTH UPDATE … Deputy health and social services minister Utjiua Muinjangue says the country has recorded 114 new coronavirus infections, as well as 183 recoveries from the virus.
She on Thursday evening said the bulk of the new cases were from Windhoek, with 62, followed by Swakopmund with 10, nine at Oshakati and seven at Gobabis. At Keetmanshoop, Karasburg and Okahandja each four new infections were recorded, and at Walvis Bay, Rehoboth and Engela three each.
Outapi, Onandjokwe, Omuthiya, Rundu and Omaruru each recorded one new infection.
“For the last three days, our daily new cases were below 100, after we reported 115 cases on 13 September,” Muinjangue said. “We continue to monitor the situation to see how it will unfold moving forward.”
She said cumulatively the country has recorded 10 078 confirmed novel coronavirus infections.
This represents about 0,4% of the population.
All fourteen regions have reported confirmed cases. The Khomas and Erongo regions have reported the highest number of cases with 4 751 (47,1%) and 3 742 (37,1%), respectively, while Kavango West recorded the fewest cases at eight (0,1%).
The country has recorded 7 685 recoveries from the coronavirus, 108 deaths linked to Covid-19, and now has 2 285 active coronavirus cases.
