A third employee at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
This was confirmed by the public broadcaster’s director general Stanley Similo today.
“It is with a heavy heart that I need to announce that one of the staff members who went into self-isolation last Sunday, started having flu symptoms and went to see the doctor on Monday, and was treated and tested for Covid-19,” Similo said in a statement.
He said the employee’s results were released late Saturday night, saying the case does not pose any danger to the NBC and its staff members at the offices.
“The colleague in question is already in self-isolation. We were informed he would be moved to one of the Ministry of Health and Social Services’ quarantine facilities today,” the director general said.
Similo said the disinfection of the broadcaster’s buildings has commenced.
“We should at all times remember that our safety and well-being remain our number-one priority. As a leadership, we are doing the best we can to ensure comfort and safety for the staff while ensuring business continuity,” he said.
