THERE will be no public gathering to celebrate founding president Sam Nujoma’s 92nd birthday on 12 May.
Nujoma’s senior special assistant Paul Shipale said this was in line with the Covid-19 regulations issued by the government, and the fact that the elderly are in the vulnerable category of those susceptible to easily contracting the disease.
All well-wishers with congratulatory messages are encouraged to send them to Nujoma’s office.
Last year’s birthday celebrations were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nujoma was born on 12 May 1929 at Ongandjera in northern Namibia.
He was the country’s president from independence in 1990 to 2005.
