PRESIDENT Hage Geingob has appointed former veteran affairs deputy minister Hilma Nicanor as an advisor on veterans’ affairs in the office of the vice president costing the government around N$48 000 a month.
State House press secretary Alfredo Hengari confirmed the appointment to The Namibian today, saying the former deputy minister will be tasked with overseeing the coordination and implementation of veterans related policies.
Nicanor’s appointment comes a few weeks after she resigned from her deputy ministerial position to contest for National Assembly position at this month’s national elections.
She could earn around N$300 000 for the next six month before the incoming cabinet is inaugurated in March next year.
Advisors earn an annual salary around N$580 000 per year (N$48 000 per month), which is equivalent to what deputy ministers earn.
Nicanor and other 15 Swapo members resigned from their positions to ensure that the ruling party comply with the regulations set out in the Constitution and the Electoral Act.
