COVID-19 CRISIS: The Ministry of Health and Social Services announced 1 403 newly confirmed novel coronavirus infections in Namibia, 27 deaths linked to Covid-19 and 279 recoveries from the virus on Saturday.
The age range of people with newly confirmed infections is from seven months to 121 years, according to the ministry.
The Khomas region is still reporting the largest share of new infections, with 40% (568 people), followed by the Erongo region with 12% (164 people), the health ministry said.
At Oshakati, 102 new infections were recorded, while 86 were recorded at Walvis Bay.
Out of the 27 latest deaths announced, ten are from Windhoek and three from Oshakati and Onandjokwe, respectively.
Okahandja, Tsumeb and Rehoboth reported two deaths each, while the Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Mariental, Andara and Katima Mulilo districts reported one death each.
The country’s hospitals now have 505 patients with Covid-19 admitted for treatment, with 79 patients in intensive care units (ICUs).
