Namibia has recorded 259 new coronavirus infections, four deaths linked to the virus and 183 recoveries from infection since Saturday, health and social services minister Kalumbi Shangula said on Monday.

Shangula also said 139 people are hospitalised with Covid-19, with 15 of the patients under intensive care.

The 259 people with newly confirmed coronavirus infections include 141 pupils, 11 teachers and three healthcare workers.

Shangula added that the ministry is currently conducting targeted Covid-19 testing in schools for pupils and staff in regions that have a high number of active Covid-19 cases.
