The Erongo Regional Electricity Distributor on Tuesday asked about 30 employees from its head office at Walvis Bay to work from home, following reports that two employees had come into contact with a person who had contact with a lorry driver suspected to have been exposed to Covid-19.
A spokesperson of the electricity distributor, Benjamin Nangombe, told The Namibian the employees were sent home to self-isolate, and that they would return to their offices at the start of next week.
He said the closure of ErongoRED’s head office is to have the premises disinfected to minimise the risk of exposure to Covid-19.
Nangombe added that the paypoint at the head office will continue to operate, but encouraged clients to use other means, like internet banking and vending machines, to settle their accounts and buy prepaid electricity.
