THE ministry of education, arts and culture has announced the reopening of schools and face-to-face learning for Grade 11 and 12 pupils at Arandis, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay on Monday.
Executive director of education, arts and culture, Sanet Steenkamp, said in a statement on Friday the return of pupils to school is voluntary.
In the event where a school records a confirmed case of Covid-19, the education ministry together with the health ministry will assess the situation before taking appropriate action.
“In addition, the ministry has developed compliance standards for the operation of schools, and schools that do not meet these standards will not resume operations until they are fully met,” Steenkamp said.
The ministry called for calm and cooperation from the school community, staff, pupils and parents during the re-opening, and advised that they be cautious of any flu-like symptoms.
“Should anyone experience these symptoms, they need to refrain from going to school, and report immediately to the nearest Covid-19 screening or health centre,” she said.
