Delays in coronavirus test results has caused an uproar among 36 people in isolation at Seeheim Hotel 45 kilometers south of Keetmanshoop in the //Kharas region.
A source indicated the quarantined people on Thursday threatened to leave the quarantine facility in protest against having been kept there for more than the normal 14-day isolation period because of their pending test results.
The //Kharas police regional commander, commissioner David Indongo, confirmed that the people, frustrated by the long wait for their test results, threatened to leave the facility without being cleared by health officials.
“After the intervention of police and health officials they agreed to stay put at the facility until their test results are out,” he said.
Indongo said all quarantine facilities in the region are guarded by the police and Namibian Defence Force (NDF) members.
