NAMIBIA has recorded one new Covid-19-related death and 150 new infections, health minister Kalumbi Shangula announced on Friday.
This brings the country’s total death toll to 16 and the cumulative confirmed cases to 2 802.
The latest Covid-19-related death is that of an 84-year-old woman who was admitted to a local hospital in Windhoek for a surgical condition.
The minister said she had multiple comorbidities and also presented with some Covid-19 symptoms.
The minister said Walvis Bay recorded 62 new cases, while Swakopmund recorded 40, Windhoek recorded 42 and Gobabis recorded two. Eenhana, Oshakati, Okahandja and Rehoboth each recorded one new case.
“Today (Friday) we report the first cases from Omaheke. Now all the 14 regions in the country have recorded Covid-19 confirmed cases,” Shangula said. Both cases are contacts of confirmed cases.
