NAMIBIA has recorded 95 new Covid-19 cases and 87 recoveries, health and social services minister Kalumbi Shangula announced on Friday.
Windhoek recorded 33 cases, Mariental 29, Oshakati 7, Rehoboth and Walvis Bay six each, Karasburg three, Omaruru, Onandjokwe, and Eehnana two each, while Luderitz, Omuthiya, Okongo, Gobabis, and Katima Mulilo one each.
The minister said they had noticed an increase of cases in crowded facilities this week including school hostels, correctional facilities and police holding cells.
“As mentioned previously, crowded setting provides the conducive environment for transmission of the communicable disease, therefore it remains critical that we shield as much as possible and prevent more cases,” he said.
The new recoveries were recorded at Khomas with 51, Hardap 28, Karas seven, and Omusati one.
The country now has 10 835 confirmed cases, 8 569 recoveries with 2 147 active cases and 119 deaths.
