At least 190 school pupils have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Namibia in the last 24 hours.
The country recorded 302 new coronavirus infections since Friday, three deaths linked to the virus and 148 recoveries from an infection with the virus, health minister Kalumbi Shangula said on Saturday.
“More positive cases are still being reported from Ekulo Senior Secondary School in Omuthiya district, as today we have 90 new cases, 28 from Haudano Senior Secondary School in Oshikuku district, 18 from Leevi Hakusembe Senior Secondary School in Rundu district and the rest are from different schools,” Shangula said.
Of the 1 850 active cases in the country currently, 128 patients are hospitalised and nine are in intensive care units.
The three latest deaths linked to Covid-19 were of men aged 37, 43 and 50 years who died in Windhoek and at Otjiwarongo and Katima Mulilo, respectively.
