NAMIBIA schools continue to be Covid-19 hotspots as 93 pupils have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

In total the country recorded 141 new coronavirus infections, three deaths linked to the virus and 102 recoveries from the virus since Monday, health minister Kalumbi Shangula said on Tuesday.

“Among the confirmed cases are 33 learners from Uukule Senior Secondary School in Onandjokwe district, 26 from Haudano Senior Secondary School in Oshikuku district and 14 from Gabriel Taapopi Senior Secondary School in Oshakati district. The rest of the learners are from 15 different schools.”

He added that five teachers from different schools and three healthcare workers also tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Of the 1 604 active coronavirus infections currently, 114 patients are hospitalised and 13 in intensive care units.
