NAMIBIA has recorded 229 new coronavirus infections, from 13 regions of the country, over the past day.

Health and social services minister Kalumbi Shangula on Saturday said the Erongo region reported the highest number of newly confirmed infections with 76 cases, followed by the Khomas region, where 44 new infections were reported.

Meanwhile, the death of a 79-year-old woman in Windhoek has brought the country’s death toll linked to Covid-19 to 371.

Shangula also said Namibia has recorded 139 new recoveries from an infection with the coronavirus, and that 141 people are hospitalised due to Covid-19, with 15 of those being treated in intensive care units.
