Namibia has recorded 242 new coronavirus infections, three more deaths linked to the virus and 365 recoveries from the virus, health minister Kalumbi Shangula said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the number of people hospitalised with Covid-19 decreased from 273 on Monday to 267 on Tuesday, with 27 people being treated in intensive care units.

Shangula discouraged Namibians from travelling without negative Covid-19 test results, saying it posed a risk to others and was worsening the country’s current situation.

“We urge all members of the public who have been swabbed and are waiting for their Covid-19 results to avoid travel until they receive their results,” he said.

The country’s latest Covid-19 pandemic figures are as follows:

Confirmed cases: 30 995
Recoveries: 27 858
Active cases: 2 836
Deaths: 296.
