NAMIBIA has recorded 269 new Covid-19 infections, 476 recoveries and three deaths linked to the virus, health and social services minister Kalumbi Shangula said on Tuesday.
The number of patients in hospital stands at 297 with 32 in intensive care, he said.
“Today we are reporting cases from all the 14 (100%) regions, with Khomas region accounting for 20% of all confirmed cases followed by //Kharas region with 15%,” the minister noted.
Shangula further encouraged those who have been exposed to the virus to quarantine to help curb the further spread of the virus. This is because one may be infected but not show the symptoms.
“Even if Covid-19 does not make one very sick, one can pass the virus to others who will have an adverse outcome such as hospitalisation or death. Therefore, the importance for quarantining suspected cases can never be over emphasised,” he added.
Confirmed cases: 28 871
Recoveries: 24 938
