NAMIBIA has recorded 363 novel coronavirus infections, 466 recoveries and five new deaths linked to the virus.

This was announced by health minister Kalumbi Shangula on Thursday who said the number of patients hospitalised due to the virus now stands at 312 with 38 of them in the intensive care.

Of the new cases, 158 (44%) are contacts to confirmed cases and 218 (60%) are symptomatic.

Khomas and Erongo regions represent 29% and 28% of all confirmed cases respectively.

“It is concerning that Erongo is starting to come up again as a hotspot for Covid-19 infection, which could possibly be linked to the festive season where a lot of holidaymakers thronged Walvis Bay and Swakopmund districts,” Shangula added.

Confirmed cases: 26 682
