HEALTH UPDATE: Health minister Kalumbi Shangula this morning said the country has eight new confirmed coronavirus infections – all from the Erongo region – and two new recoveries from Covid-19, which brings the number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Namibia to 63.
Cases 56, 57, 58 and 59 are all contacts of case 37, while case 60 is a contact of case 35.
Case 61 is a 24-year-old woman from Walvis Bay who does not have any known history of contact with another infected person. At the time she has no symptoms or related signs of the coronavirus disease.
Case 62 is a 65-year-old man from Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay, who was swabbed on 19 June as part of active case search. He has had no known contact with another infected person, and has no recent travel history. At the time of swabbing, he had signs of headache and fever.
Case 63 is a 43-year-old man from Swakopmund who was swabbed on 19 June as part of active case search. He has no known contact or travel history.
