NAMIBIA has recorded 148 new coronavirus infections, 127 recoveries and three deaths.
This was announced on Thursday afternoon by health executive director Ben Nangombe.
He said of the new cases, 81 are male and 67 female, with the youngest being three years old and the oldest 87 years.
Windhoek recorded 85 new infections, Walvis Bay 9, Okahandja 8, Swakopmund 7, Oshakati, Rehoboth, Gobabis, Lüderitz and Keetmanshoop four each, Rundu three, Nankudu, Katima Mulilo, Omuthiya, Tsumeb, Otjiwarongo and Karasburg two each, Grootfontein, Eenhana and Engela one each.
The recoveries are distributed as follows; Khomas 100, Oshana 9, Ohangwena 7, Otjozondjupa 6, Hardap 3 and Omaheke 2.
Active infections in Namibia now stand at 4 393. Of the active cases, 20 are in severe to critical conditions.
Nangombe said they have been experiencing a rise in infections among health workers since the outbreak.
“As of today, total of 391 of health workers have been infected with Covid-19. Fortunately, 313 (80%) of them have recovered,” he said.
The country now has 9 256 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 4 767 recoveries and 96 deaths.
