Namibia has recorded 118 new confirmed coronavirus infections and 175 recoveries from the virus causing Covid-19.

This was announced by health minister Kalumbi Shangula on Tuesday evening.

Of the newly confirmed coronavirus infections the youngest is four months old and the oldest 88 years of age.

Shangula said the number of new test results was low compared to the usual amount of tests done recently, due to technical challenges experienced. Outstanding results would be added to the number to be announced on Wednesday.

Windhoek recorded 81 newly confirmed coronavirus infections, Rehoboth eight, Swakopmund six, Oshakati and Rundu three each, Omuthiya, Oshikuku, Omaruru and Mariental two each, and Eenhana, Engela, Opuwo, Tsumeb, Otjiwarongo, Okahandja, Usakos, Keetmanshoop and Lüderitz one each.

Out of the 175 new recoveries, 156 are from Erongo, five each from Khomas, Omaheke and Otjozondjupa, and four from //Kharas.

Active novel coronavirus infections in Namibia now number 4 856. Of the active cases, 19 are in a severe to critically sick condition.

Namibia has now recorded 8 928 confirmed coronavirus infections, 3 981 recoveries and 91 deaths linked to Covid-19.
