HEALTH minister Kalumbi Shangula says the country has recorded 64 new coronavirus infections and 24 new recoveries.
Out of the new cases, Shangula said on Tuesday, 44 are from Walvis Bay, five from Swakopmund and 15 from Windhoek.
Thirty-four are men and 30 are women, and their ages range from six to 64 years.
Shangula said the ages of the 15 new cases reported from Windhoek range from 22 to 54 years, with nine women and six males.
Six of the people confirmed infected with the coronavirus in Windhoek had been in contact with previously confirmed cases and three of them presented with symptoms consistent with Covid-19 at the time of testing.
“All nine cases who reported not to have been in contact with confirmed cases presented with symptoms consistent with Covid-19,” he said.
The Windhoek cases were reported from the Goreangab, Okuryangava, Golgota, Katutura, Soweto, Wanaheda, Greenwell, Otjomuise, Khomasdal, Kleine Kuppe, Suiderhof, Eros and Elisenheim areas of the city. Among them there are two teachers from the same school.
The country has now recorded 2 470 confirmed novel coronavirus infections, 211 recoveries and twelve deaths. Total samples tested are 29 233 and 1 668 people are in quarantine.
