THE Ministry of Health and Social Services announced 1 084 newly confirmed novel coronavirus infections in Namibia, 15 deaths linked to Covid-19 and 808 recoveries from the coronavirus on Monday evening.
The Otjozondjupa region recorded the highest number of new infections (265), of which 114 were at Okahandja, 86 at Otjiwarongo, 45 at Grootfontein and 20 at Okakarara.
The Hardap region recorded 261 new coronavirus infections, of which 168 are at Rehoboth and 78 at Mariental, followed by the Khomas region with 216 and the Erongo region with 154, which include 81 infections at Omaruru.
Of the 15 deaths announced, five are from Keetmanshoop, three each from Windhoek, Okahandja and Grootfontein and one from Otjiwarongo.
The age range of new infections is from three months to 86 years.
Of all confirmed cases, only 20, which represent two percent, are recorded to have been vaccinated with the first dose of a Covid-19 inoculation.
The country’s hospitals now have 516 patients with Covid-19 admitted for treatment, of which 90 patients are in intensive care units (ICUs).
Among the confirmed cases are 215 pupils from different schools, seven students from institutions of higher learning, 14 teachers and 13 healthcare workers who tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
