Namibia recorded another one-day record number of newly confirmed novel coronavirus infections and deaths linked to Covid-19 on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services announced on Thursday that out of 5 823 test results received over the last day, 2 075 were positive, which is a positivity ratio of 36%. It also announced another 33 deaths linked to Covid-19.
Of the new infections, 1 128 were recorded in Windhoek, where 11 of the deaths also took place. Twelve of the deaths took place at Gobabis, where 119 newly confirmed infections were recorded.
Four hundred people are currently hospitalised with Covid-19 in Namibia, with 84 patients in intensive care units and 56 in high care units.
Namibia has recorded 8 767 newly confirmed coronavirus infections and 123 deaths linked to Covid-19 over the past week.
