Health and social services minister Kalumbi Shangula announced 1 399 newly confirmed novel coronavirus infections in Namibia and another 20 deaths linked to Covid-19 on Saturday evening.
Twelve of the deaths and 664 of the newly confirmed infections were recorded in Windhoek.
The announcement follows a day after a one-day record of 1 432 new coronavirus infections in Namibia were announced on Friday evening.
Out of the 3 973 novel coronavirus test results received over the past 24 hours, 1 399 were positive, which is a positivity ratio of 35%, Shangula stated.
The country’s hospitals now have 382 patients with Covid-19 admitted for treatment and 62 patients with the illness in intensive care units (ICUs). A week ago, 330 Covid-19 patients, of whom 54 were in ICUs, were being treated in hospitals in Namibia.
The country has recorded 6 148 newly confirmed coronavirus infections and 88 deaths linked to Covid-19 over the past week.
